Author interveiw with Kate Tildes

Kate Tildes is one up and coming Author to watch out for! You can find her short story One Hot Night in Firefly and Wisp's erotic anthology Of Leather and Lace. I am sure this is just the first of many works to be published by Kate!!!!

Could you tell us a little about yourself?

Sure...Well, I'm 29, I live in Cape Cod, Ma, with my fiance, and by day (or maybe night) I'm am EMT. I grew up in OH, went to Ohio University for undergrad, moved back out to MA in 2007. I really enjoy writing, listening to music, reading, kayaking, and going fishing.

What is the title of your new book and if you had to sum it up in 30 or less words, what would you say?

Well, as you know Rebecca, one of my short stories got picked to be in the erotic anthology “Of Leather & Lace”, along side yours! My story is entitled “One Hot Night” and its about a one night stand between a woman and a female vampire.  What an awesome anthology.

If you gave one of your characters an opportunity to speak for themselves, what would they say?

Serena would have lots of sarcastic things to say.

Do you have plans for a new book?   Is this book part of a series?

I am currently working on several short stories but I have a novel that I am trying to edit and finish as well. There's a good possibility that a friend of mine is going to publish some more of my stuff, so I am uber excited!

What made you start writing and did you go down the path of self-publishing or did you seek out a publisher?

God, I have been writing since I was....a pre-teen? Probably before that! I started writing poetry, really depressing, angsty stuff, but moved onto short stories. I seldom write poetry now. I always wanted to get a book of my poetry published and, of course, dreamed of finishing any of the three novels I have started. This was a complete fluke! An old friend of mine from high school (back in OH), Crystal Ward, author of “Supernova”, got published and that got me thinking. I checked out Firefly & Wisp, her publishers, and submitted a few shorts for anthologies and bam, one got picked for “Of Leather & Lace”. I shared this news with my other publishing friend and she said she was interested in my stuff. So...now I am trying to actually write on a regular basis.

Is there an Author who has influenced you or one that you would really like to meet?

So many! Fracesa Lia Block is absolutely amazing. Her Weetzie Bat series is phenomenal. Anne Rice whose books I've read a dozen times and really got me into the paranormal. Laurell K. Hamilton has been a huge influence. Kurt Vonnegut, rest his soul. So many more...

List 3 books you just recently read and would recommend?

1 .        Darynda Jones’s “Third Grave Dead Ahead”. I love this series!

2.                  Yasmine Galenorn's Sisters of the Moon series. I just read book 6.

3.                  Veronica Roth's “Divergent”. Its the first in the series and its awesome!

If your book was made into a TV series or Movie, what actors would you like to see playing your characters?

Oh man, that's tough. Since I am thinking about the above mentioned short story, I'm going with that. Since I love the Underworld series so much, I'm going with Kate Beckinsale for Serena and Leisha Haley (from the L Word) as Amy. Now that would be hot.

Ok Now for some fun J ….

Sleep in or get up early? If I can, sleep in. I'm an EMT so I do a lot of late nights which requires sleeping in later.

Energy drinks or coffee? Coffee, I dislike energy drinks.

Sweet or Savory? Sweet! If its chocolate its even better. :)

Ebook or paperback? Paperback but I am starting to really like ebooks.

One of your favorite quotes - “For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.”  Virginia Woolf
